No Excuses!
“But the man who is clean and is not on a journey, and yet neglects to observe the Passover, that person shall then be cut off from his people, for he did not present the offering of the Lord at its appointed time. That man will bear his sin.” (Numbers 9:13, NASB95) After the Israelites had been in the wilderness for a year after the Exodus, the second passover was observed on the 14th day of the month of Nissan, as prescribed by God. Some, however, were unable to observe the passover because they were ceremonially unclean or on a journey. For these people, God gave a second opportunity to observe Passover exactly one month later. However, the Lord, knowing the human heart, foresaw that some would neglect the Passover for trivial reasons and just opt for the second chance. God instructed that these be “cut off from his people.”I wonder how often I abuse the second chances of God? How often do I neglect my duty simply because of convenience, apathy, or triviality? How prevalent has the “I don’t really need to do anything” attitude become in the church today? It is my prayer that you and I are faithful to the assigned task, until He comes! In His Grace;Dr. Randy White
