I. The church is rightly involved in politics
–Social issues
–Economic issues
–Partisan issues
–Candidate endorsement
II. The church must never give in to government control or coercion.
–The Nazi German Church allowed Hitler’s cross to become its own.
–In one generation, the Iron Curtain governments sought to eradicate the church in lands where it had a 1,000 year history.
–The earliest church received the full-force of government’s attempt to control, yet stood firm.
–The most inspiring chapters of church history has been written in the blood of Pastors who would never be silenced.
•The church can overestimate the power of politics
–To listen to many from the Christian right, you would think that electing the right candidate would solve our societal problems.
–Our society has the worst set of problems it has ever seen in its history, from the Pilgrims to Present.
•We kill millions of unborn each year.
•We can’t even decide what marriage is made up of
•We have mortgaged our children’s futures
•We have tricked college students into tens of thousands in loans that will start them off in servitude to the government.
–What shall Christians do in days like today?
•Find convictional conservatives
•Release your need for silent and secure living
•Hold fast to a literal interpretation of God’s Word
