Speaking in Tongues | Ask the Theologian

AskTheTheologianLogo-FinalWhen the Holy Spirit came upon the 120 believers on the day of Pentecost they began to speak in tongues. It appears that they were speaking languages that they could not understand, and were thus able to communicate to the Jewish pilgrims who had come from around the world to observe the Jewish Feast of Pentecost (a memorial observation celebrating the receiving of the Law). However, when Paul wrote to the Corinthian church about speaking in tongues, he told them that they needed an interpreter. Why was an interpreter needed for the Corinthians but not for those in Jerusalem? Was this the same gift?In this edition of Ask the Theologian, Dr. Randy White addresses the issue of speaking in tongues. Also on this episode: Is there an inerrant English translation of the Bible? Does using Greek and Hebrew to study the Word take the Bible out of the hands of the average Christian?Listen or watch below. To order a DVD of this episode for $5, call 855-437-9448.
