The Secret to his Strength

“…and the Lord helped David wherever he went.” (1 Chronicles 18:6, NASB95)I’ve often been inspired by some of the “high achievers” that I know.  I am amazed by some preachers who pastor churches, lead in denominational positions, speak around the world, write books, and maintain a healthy family.  I have wondered at times how they get so much accomplished! While those of a natural mind would give credit to natural personality traits, excessive self-esteem needs, or grand skills in organization, I am not so sure this is always the source.  King David, for example, was a “high achiever” because “the Lord helped David wherever he went”.What an honor, that Almighty God would concern himself with the affairs of mankind, let alone the tasks of a single man or woman.  Yet God, who knows when every sparrow falls, has promised to “never leave us nor forsake us.”What David had was special, but not unique among men.  In fact, God has promised to help us as well, if we will seek Him.  He has said that we have not because we ask not.  So, would you join me in asking today?  I’m going to ask God to help me…wherever I go.  In asking, I’ll commit to only go “in the paths of righteousness” and not to lean on my own understanding.    I’ll pray that I do not grieve nor quench the Holy Spirit, thwarting God’s desire to answer my prayer.  I will “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” before I seek any other matters of this world. And, in faith, I believe that the Lord will help me…wherever I go. In His Grace,Dr. Randy White
