Ahiezer the Son of Ammishaddai
“So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name.” (Numbers 1:17, NASB95)Ahiezer ben Ammishaddai represents the tribe of Dan. Dan (which means “Judge”) is never mentioned in a positive light, so we can presume that Ahiezer might be the least flattering name of the representatives. The name ahiezer comes from “ach,” meaning brother and “ezer,” meaning help. If you have been following this series, you recognize the personal pronoun letter “i” so you know that Ahiezer is “My brother is help.” Why is this not flattering? Because Dan, the Judge, is given in a negative light in Scripture, and it is the Brother who will really be the Judge and the Helper. I believe that the Antichrist will come from the tribe of Dan, but the true Christ comes from the tribe of Dan’s brother, Judah! In the millennium, the Jewish people will rejoice that “my brother is help,” and their Brother will be the Messiah, Jesus Christ!Ammishaddai will look familiar if you have been following this series. The name comes from Am - i – Shaddai. “Am” is people, so Ammi is “my people” or “my nation” but in the sense of “my kindred” or even “my Kinsman.” “Shaddai,” as we have seen, is “almighty.” Thus Ammishaddai is “My kinsman is almighty.” This would have the same reference as “my Brother is help.”Today, praise the Lord that the nation of Israel will someday turn to their Brother, even as the Lord’s earthly brothers (like James) did after His resurrection, and they will proclaim their Brother as help and will profess that, “My Kinsman is almighty!”In His Grace,Dr. Randy W
