Short-Sighted Thinking
“Where there are no oxen, the feeding-trough is clean, but an abundant harvest comes through the strength of an ox.” (Proverbs 14:4, HCSB) I once heard a cute, poetic piece of advice that went something like this:
To clean the house while the kids are still growing
Is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing!
The message of Proverbs 14:4 is related to this advice. To have a clean barn seems like a noble thing, perhaps even a sign of an industrious farmer. However, King Solomon was pointing out that the one who emphasizes a clean barn has missed the point: only barn-dirtying oxen will bring in a great harvest.
Are there any areas of life in which you emphasize the clean barn at the expense of the great harvest? In His Grace,Dr. Randy WhiteClick here for our FREE DVD on the Antichrist!
