A Financial Principle

Devotional, June 12 - Proverbs 3:9-10“Honor the Lord from your wealth And from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9–10, NASB95) The Hebrew word translated “Honor” literally means “heavy,” with the implication of “put the weight on.”  When it comes to our wealth, a heavy measurement is to go to the Lord.Do you give the Lord the benefit when you manage your finances?  Does your spending point others to God and His work?  Does the Lord get the “first of all your produce” or the leftovers?  Is your financial giving to the Lord a matter of faith or a matter of discretionary spending?  Let me encourage you to take inventory of the weight of your spending.  The momentum will go where the weight is!Barns filled with plenty and vats overflowing with new wine are a great joy, and will be the experience of those who receive a reward in the coming Kingdom.  Solomon writes principles for this earth, but promises for the Kingdom.  As far as he as King is able to control the Kingdom, this will be his edict.  When the Ultimate King arrives, He will bless us with filled barns and overflowing vats.  Until then, we will be faithful with our wealth.In His Grace,Dr. Randy White
